Medics can carry weapons for self defense and the defense of the patient such
as a rifle or pistol. A common weapon carried in WWII was the M1911A1 pistol.

Nowdays, the medics usually (there will be exceptions such as the 9MM pistol)
carry an assault rifle such as the M4 or the M16 series.
